The day you get your braces on your teeth are unlikely to be sore.
Be sure to switch to a soft diet in the first few days as the braces take 24 hours to fully stick to your teeth.
Cut all your food into small bite sized pieces and avoid biting hard foods with your front teeth.
Do not eat foods that require lots of chewing as this will make your teeth sore.
If one of your braces falls off in the first few days dont worry just call our office to schedule an appointment.
Your lips and cheeks may get sore in the first week, be sure to place pieces of wax as directed onto the braces adjacent to the sore areas. After the 1st weeks your lips will become used to the braces. Try not to eat very acid foods or drinks as this will lead to increases discomfort.
You may use over the counter pain relievers such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil for the first week. Please follow the directions and warnings listed on the packet.
Warm salt water rinses also help with soreness in the mouth. Warm moist towels or heat pads placed on the face over your cheeks can help with discomfort from the teeth.
